EYFS Teaching Assistant
About the role
Heart of Supply is looking for a caring and confident EYFS Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school from January to July 2026, working mornings and covering the lunchtime period, five days per week.
As an EYFS Teaching Assistant you will be support the class teacher in Early Years, helping children develop key skills through play, exploration, and structured learning. Your role will involve assisting with small group activities, supporting individual pupils, and helping to create a positive, nurturing classroom environment.
The ideal EYFS Teaching Assistant will have previous Early Years experience and a strong understanding of the EYFS framework. You’ll be confident in promoting positive behaviour and supporting emotional regulation. Experience with behaviour management and de-escalation techniques would be a real advantage, along with a calm, patient approach and the ability to build strong, trusting relationships with both pupils and staff.

What you will need
- Previous experience supporting children in an Early Years setting (EYFS) or a similar learning environment
- A calm, compassionate approach and the ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
- Confidence supporting learning and development under the direction of the class teacher
- Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to use positive reinforcement strategies to encourage engagement and good choices
- Flexibility to adapt to the needs of different pupils and routines across the school day
- Excellent communication skills and a positive, team-focused attitude
- A relevant qualification (such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant or Early Years qualification) is desirable but not essential for experienced candidates
