KS1 1:1 Teaching Assistant

About the role
Heart of Supply is looking for a caring and proactive KS1 1:1 Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child with additional needs, including speech and language difficulties, in a welcoming primary school south of Lincoln.

This is a full-time position, starting as soon as possible and continuing until at least Christmas. As a KS1 1:1 Teaching Assistant, working under the direction of the class teacher and SENDCo, you’ll play a key role in helping the child access a bespoke curriculum, build confidence, and develop communication and social skills in a positive, supportive environment.

The KS1 1:1 Teaching Assistant will require patience, creativity, and initiative, as well as the ability to take guidance and work collaboratively with the class team. You’ll help deliver tailored interventions, encourage participation and promote independence and emotional wellbeing throughout the school day.

This small, friendly village primary school, located just south of Lincoln, has a warm and welcoming community feel. With only four mixed-year classes, the school offers a truly nurturing environment where every child is known, valued, and supported.

What you will need
  • Experience supporting children with additional needs, ideally in KS1 or Early Years
  • A calm, patient and compassionate approach, with the ability to build strong, trusting relationships
  • Confidence supporting a child to access a bespoke curriculum under the guidance of the class teacher and SENDCo
  • Understanding of speech, language and communication needs and a willingness to use targeted strategies to promote progress
  • The ability to encourage independence, engagement and positive behaviour through positive reinforcement and consistency
  • Flexibility to adapt to the needs of the child and routines across the school day
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, team-focused attitude
  • A relevant qualification (such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant or SEND qualification) is desirable but not essential for experienced candidates
