SEND Teaching Assistant

About the role
This is more than a classroom support role, it’s a chance to be someone’s constant in a school day full of challenges. As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you’ll work closely with a pupil who may have additional learning, emotional, or behavioural needs, helping them feel safe, seen and supported.

As a SEND Teaching Assistant you will need patience, resilience, and a flexible approach able to adapt your support to suit the child’s evolving needs throughout the day. Whether you're helping them engage with learning, navigate routines, or build confidence in social situations, your calm and consistent presence will be key to their success.
About the school
We work in partnership with a wide network of welcoming, well-supported schools across Lincoln and the surrounding areas, including primary and secondary schools, academies, local authority provisions, and specialist SEND settings. Whether you’re passionate about early years, KS2, or supporting pupils with additional needs, we’ll match you with schools that align with your skills and values. As a Heart of Supply educator, you’ll be part of a growing team that’s making a real difference in the classroom, gaining valuable experience across diverse environments.
What you will need
  • Experience working with children in a school or SEND setting (1:1 experience welcome but not essential)
  • A calm, patient and consistent approach, especially when supporting challenging behaviour
  • A genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning
  • The ability to follow teacher and SENCO guidance, while also using your initiative
  • Confidence supporting a range of needs, including learning differences, emotional regulation, or sensory needs
  • An understanding of SEND, EHCPs or SEMH

We’re fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils, young people, and vulnerable adults. All applicants will undergo thorough vetting, including enhanced DBS (with children’s barred list check and Update Service registration), references, and online checks as part of our compliance process.
